3 NBA Trade Suitors for Raptors’ Pascal Siakam This Summer

Some NBA trade rumors just won’t go away. Until they do, that is. The Atlanta Hawks were rumored to be shopping John Collins for a long time. They finally moved him. Next season, Collins will be on the Utah Jazz.

Damian Lillard hasn’t been moved – yet. Still, we can call off the rumors. Lillard officially wants a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Then, there’s Pascal Siakam. He hasn’t requested a trade, but the rumors persist. Soon enough, he might find himself on another team. Here are three that we think should be looking at him.

Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are perhaps the most common suitor for Siakam. That’s because they might make the most sense. After all, any co-star for Trae Young has to be a two-way player. Siakam fits that description. He’s a strong defensive wing who can lighten Young’s playmaking load.

The Hawks have plenty that the Raptors could use, too. Dejounte Murray could be a ready-made Fred VanVleet replacement. Meanwhile, the Raptors could have an interest in Onyeka Onkongwu as well.

With that said, there’s one thing the Hawks don’t have: picks. If the Raptors want draft capital for Siakam, they’ll have to look elsewhere. Why not turn to the team with the most draft capital in the NBA?

Oklahoma City Thunder

Actually, the Thunder may have too much draft capital. They’ll never be able to spend it all. Why not consolidate now? The Thunder could send the Raptors four or five future first-rounders without flinching. They’d still have one of the best collections of draft capital in the league.

Making the money work could be a challenge. In terms of contracts, the Thunder would have to move Luguentz Dort at least. That shouldn’t be a problem.

Moving the picks is a different story. The Thunder may want to enjoy a playoff season with their young core before they make an all-in push. If so, they won’t be a good partner for the Raptors. Could this next team?

Brooklyn Nets

Unlike the Thunder, the Nets won’t have an appetite for a slow rebuilding process. Actually, they can’t afford one. After all, this team owes its future draft capital to the Houston Rockets through to 2027. The Nets have no reason to wait. They should consolidate their draft capital as soon as possible.

Luckily, they’ve got plenty of it. In fact, they may have the biggest collection of draft capital outside of Oklahoma City. The Nets have more than enough to acquire Siakam.

They also have a dire need for him. The Nets are one offensive star away from getting back to playoff contention. If that star was Siakam, they wouldn’t have to compromise their defense by acquiring him. That sounds like a good reason to put these rumors to rest.
