The Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks were interested in signing Mason Plumlee, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Plumlee decided to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers on a one-year, $5 million deal.
“Mason Plumlee drew interest from numerous playoff-caliber teams, including the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks, before ultimately choosing to re-sign with the Clippers, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto wrote.
The Clippers acquired Plumlee from the Charlotte Hornets at the 2023 February trade deadline. The big man averaged 7.5 points and 6.9 rebounds in 23 games with Los Angeles. The Clippers have made Ivica Zubac available in trade talks so they can give Plumlee more minutes next season, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
Plumlee has career averages of 8.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists with the Brooklyn Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Hornets and Clippers. He’s a strong rebounder and rim protector.
The Clippers lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. Plumlee averaged 8.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in the five-game series. Los Angeles won Game 1 but lost four straight games after that.
