Stephen Curry went on Instagram to say goodbye to Jordan Poole, who was traded to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul. The two-time MVP also welcomed Paul to the Golden State Warriors.

The Dubs, who lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals in six games, are expected to start Paul and Curry together next season.

Poole averaged a career-high 20.4 points for the Warriors last season while shooting 43.0% from the field, 33.6% from beyond the arc and 87.0% from the free-throw line. However, the shooting guard wasn’t able to carry over his regular-season success to the 2023 postseason.

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists last season for the Phoenix Suns while shooting 44.0% from the floor, 37.5% from 3 and 83.1% from the free-throw line. Golden State is expected to start Paul, Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green in 2023-24.

Paul has never won a title during his Hall of Fame career, while Curry, Thompson and Green have captured four championships and played in six NBA Finals. Green told Los Angeles Clippers All-Star Paul George on the “Podcast P With Paul George” podcast that Paul is going to make the Warriors’ offense more dynamic.

“I think he brings a couple things,” Green said. “Number one, I thought last year — and Steph said this in his press conference — we ran out of variety. And what I mean about variety is, in a team, you need to have a variety. Our team last year didn’t have a variety of ways to score and I think CP adds another thing to the menu to address the topic of a variety of ways to score. CP plays totally different than Steph, totally different than Klay, totally different than myself.”
