Four-time NBA champion Draymond Green is excited to play with Chris Paul on the Golden State Warriors next season.

Green told Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George on the “Podcast P With Paul George” podcast that Paul is going to make the Warriors’ offense more dynamic.

“I think he brings a couple things,” Green said. “Number one, I thought last year — and Steph said this in his press conference — we ran out of variety. And what I mean about variety is, in a team, you need to have a variety. Our team last year didn’t have a variety of ways to score and I think CP adds another thing to the menu to address the topic of a variety of ways to score. CP plays totally different than Steph, totally different than Klay, totally different than myself.”

The Warriors traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for Paul, who averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists last season for the Phoenix Suns while shooting 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc and 83.1% from the free-throw line. He is 38 years old.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Draymond Green, Chris Paul & Golden State Warriors Updates

Golden State is expected to start Paul, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Green in 2023-24.

“I also think last year, Steph and I got split up a lot. And me and Steph together, we’re dangerous,” Green said. “Our minutes got split up a bunch because our second unit couldn’t figure it out. And in turn, I got put into the second unit to help stabilize things. That’s like 15 less minutes a game we’re together. Well now, CP can anchor that unit and I think that is a big thing to helping unlock our team again.”

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Draymond Green, Chris Paul & Golden State Warriors Updates

It’s going to be strange to see Paul play for the Warriors. In 2018, Paul’s fake laugh at Warriors head coach Steve Kerr went viral on social media. Most recently, Curry told Paul, “This ain’t 2014 no more” during a matchup against the Suns last season.

While Paul has a lot of history with Curry and the Warriors, Curry told Anthony Slater of The Athletic that Paul can help the Warriors get back to the promised land next season. Golden State has won four rings and played in six NBA Finals in the Curry-Thompson-Green era.
