Eric Gordon is signing with the Phoenix Suns to play with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Gordon was an unrestricted free agent after the Los Angeles Clippers didn’t guarantee his 2023-24 salary. The Indiana product signed a four-year, $75.6 million veteran contract extension with the Houston Rockets in September 2019.
The Clippers acquired Gordon from the Rockets at the 2023 trade deadline. The former Sixth Man of the Year averaged 11.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 22 games with Los Angeles while shooting 46.3% from the field, 42.3% from beyond the arc and 84.2% from the free-throw line.
LAC lost to the Suns in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. Gordon averaged 10.2 points in the series. Kawhi Leonard only played in Games 1 and 2 due to a torn meniscus in his right knee and Paul George missed the entire series with his own knee injury.
Gordon has career averages of 16.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans and Rockets. The Suns now have Gordon, Durant, Beal, Booker and Deandre Ayton as their top players/scorers.
