Donte DiVincenzo is signing a four-year, $50 million contract with the New York Knicks, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

DiVincenzo was an unrestricted free agent after declining his 2023-24 player option with the Golden State Warriors.

Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart played college basketball with DiVincenzo at Villanova. That helped New York sign DiVincenzo, who averaged 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Warriors this past season in 72 games. The NBA champion shot 43.5% from the field, 39.7% from beyond the arc and 81.7% from the free-throw line.

DiVincenzo made 150 3-pointers for the Warriors in 2022-23. He has career averages of 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings and Warriors.

The Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games but lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in six games. New York hopes the addition of DiVincenzo will allow the team to build off the success of last season.

Before signing DiVincenzo, the Knicks traded Obi Toppin to the Indiana Pacers for a pair of future second-round picks in a move that both opened up a rotation spot in New York and cleared salary to help fit DiVincenzo under the $172.3 million hard cap triggered by giving him the non-taxpayer midlevel exception.

Hart opted into his $12.6 million 2023-24 player option with the Knicks. He could extend off his 2023-24 salary number.

Along with signing DiVincenzo and trading Toppin, the Knicks didn’t bring back former MVP Derrick Rose, who signed a two-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. Rose will play a lot of minutes to start next season since Ja Morant will miss the first 25 games due to a suspension. The Grizzlies also acquired Marcus Smart from the Boston Celtics.
