In our opinion, yes. This is an excellent choice from a basketball perspective. There is a strong possibility that Irving might be a better fit alongside Joel Embiid than Harden ever was.

It is true that he is a less ball-dominant player than Harden. There is no question that Irving is willing to work off the ball in order to find catch-and-shoot opportunities for himself. 

There is no doubt that they are losing Harris. There is no doubt that he is a good player. On the other hand, he may be able to be replaced on the margins in terms of floor spacing and defense. 

As far as Irving’s mentality is concerned, there will be a lot of concerns here. There can be no doubt that he is one of the most divisive characters around.

With that being said, it has been reported that Irving is looking for his last NBA home in the near future. It is imperative that the Sixers make every effort to provide him with this opportunity.
