The Los Angeles Lakers are “eager” to re-sign point guard Dennis Schroder, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
Schroder becomes an unrestricted free agent at 6 PM ET on June 30.
“The Lakers, sources say, are eager to re-sign Dennis Schröder after his strong play last season on a minimum salary and want to give him a raise,” Stein wrote.
Schroder averaged 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the Lakers in 2022-23. He shot 41.5% from the field, 32.9% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the free-throw line. The 29-year-old has a very close relationship with Lakers head coach Darvin Ham.

During an interview with Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Schroder talked about his future and it sounded like he wants the Lakers to come to him with a good offer after he helped the club reach the 2023 Western Conference Finals.
“Whenever the Lakers hopefully come to me and say, ‘Listen, this is what we can do and this is what the situation is and we want to keep you,’ then we’re going to see if they really appreciate what I did,” Schroder said. “I know, end of the day, it’s a business is what I’m saying, and it’s a lot of factors around it as well.
“I would love to come back because I know the guys now. My second year with AD and Bron went really well. Even when D-Lo came, AR, a lot of ball handlers, I still found my way. Yes, they got to make a lot of decisions and I’m the player. I gave everything I have to showcase what I bring, and let’s see what happens.”
