Future NBA Hall of Famer Chris Paul is expected to start for the Golden State Warriors next season, according to Marc J. Spears of Andscape.

The Warriors acquired Paul from the Washington Wizards for shooting guard Jordan Poole. Golden State is expected to start Paul, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green in 2023-24.

“I wonder if ultimately they want to bring Chris off the bench, which might be awkward because he’s never done that in his entire Hall of Fame career, but from what I’m being told is, the expectation is that he’s going to start,” Spears said on KNBR Radio.

“Really, really small lineup to start with, but if you’ve got Draymond and CP on the floor together, I can only imagine how beautiful these passes are,” Spears explained. “Chris will get the easiest wide-open 3s of his career, maybe easier than the ones he got in Phoenix. Life will be easy for Wiggins.”

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Chris Paul, Stephen Curry & Golden State Warriors Updates

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists this past season for the Phoenix Suns while shooting 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc and 83.1% from the free-throw line. He is 38 years old.

It’s going to be strange to see Paul play for the Warriors. In 2018, Paul’s fake laugh at Warriors head coach Steve Kerr went viral on social media. Most recently, Curry told Paul, “This ain’t 2014 no more” during a matchup against the Suns in March.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Chris Paul, Stephen Curry & Golden State Warriors Updates

While Paul has a lot of history with Curry and the Warriors, Curry told Anthony Slater of The Athletic that Paul can help the Warriors get back to the promised land next season. Golden State has won four rings and played in six NBA Finals in the Curry-Thompson-Green era.

“The business is crazy,” Curry said about the Paul-Poole trade. “We all know that. If you asked us six months ago if this was something that could happen, the answer probably would’ve been no just based on where we were. Then you get to the summer and are trying to find ways to get better and put yourself in a position to chase another championship. Every team that CP has been on gets better. That’s the most consistent thing about him, and who he is and what he brings to the team.”
