NBA champion Kevin Love may be pursued by the Milwaukee Bucks once free agency starts on June 30, according to Sam Amico of HoopsWire.

Love played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat this past season. He becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Love averaged 8.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 62 games this past season while shooting 38.9% from the field, 33.4% from beyond the arc and 87.9% from the free-throw line. The UCLA product helped the Heat beat the Bucks in the first round of the 2023 playoffs.

The 34-year-old Love isn’t the star he was when he was on the Minnesota Timberwolves and when he first got to the Cavaliers in 2014, but he’s a terrific veteran for a locker room and a player who knows what it takes to win at the highest level. Love has played in five NBA Finals and helped the Cavaliers win the 2016 title over the 73-9 Golden State Warriors.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Kevin Love, Miami Heat & Milwaukee Bucks Updates

The Bucks need more shooters around two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and Love fits that bill. The five-time All-Star is a career 37.0% shooter on 3-pointers. Milwaukee lost to Miami in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games, so the front office needs to make some changes to the roster this summer.

Due to turning 35 in September, Love is limited defensively but has managed to stay on the floor year after year on the strength of his offensive game. The former Most Improved Player of the Year is still a brilliant passer and defensive rebounder. Love could give Milwaukee everything it needs in a 20-minute-per-game reserve, pairing perfectly with Antetokounmpo and All-Stars Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday.

Assuming the Bucks re-sign Middleton and center Brook Lopez, Milwaukee should have some money left over to sign Love, who has career averages of 16.9 points and 10.4 rebounds.
