The Miami Heat want to re-sign point guard Gabe Vincent in unrestricted free agency this summer, according to NBA insider Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
The Heat would like to re-sign Vincent even if they acquire superstar point guard Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers. However, Jackson believes it may be difficult for Miami to keep Vincent.
“Meanwhile, the Heat would like to re-sign impending free-agent guard Gabe Vincent regardless of whether Miami lands Lillard, according to a league source,” Jackson wrote. “Heat president Pat Riley was planning to meet with Vincent this week in Southern California, in advance of the start of free agency at 6 p.m. Friday.
“It’s unclear whether the Heat will be able to re-sign Vincent because Miami is well over the luxury tax threshold and because the market must play out for him. But the Heat intends to make an offer.”

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Gabe Vincent & Miami Heat Updates
One NBA general manager has labeled Vincent as a potential target for the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. A Western Conference general manager told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that Vincent is the kind of player the Lakers need.
“Gabe Vincent from Miami, he is a free agent and could be had at a decent number,” the GM said. “It is hard to figure where he ranks as a shooter, and the Heat might go out of their way to keep him, but he’s the kind of fit they need there in LA.”
It will be interesting to see where Vincent is playing next season.
