Six NBA teams are interested in trading for Philadelphia 76ers small forward Tobias Harris, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and Detroit Pistons have pursued a trade for Harris, who signed a five-year, $180 million contract with the Sixers in July 2019. He’s in the final year of that massive deal.
“The Sixers have been adamant that they’re not willing to trade him unless it drastically improves their team,” Pompey wrote. “They made that clear on draft night and don’t intend to change their stance.
“However, the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, and Dallas Mavericks joined the previously mentioned Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and Detroit Pistons as teams making inquiries about the 30-year-old’s availability, according to sources.”
Harris averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists this past season while shooting 50.1% from the field, 38.9% from beyond the arc and 87.6% from the free-throw line. The Sixers lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals in seven games despite having a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Tobias Harris & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
Pompey reported that Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey “isn’t negotiating in good faith” when it comes to a Harris trade. It appears Morey is overvaluing Harris, who is represented by his father.
Doc Rivers was fired as head coach of the Sixers and replaced by former Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse, who won the 2019 championship over the Golden State Warriors in six games. If the Sixers keep Harris on the roster, Nurse intends to get him more involved in the offense than Rivers did, according to Pompey.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Tobias Harris & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
Harris has career averages of 16.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers and Sixers. It will be interesting to see where he’s playing next season.
