Miami Heat Receive: G/F Gary Harris, G Cole Anthony, F Chuma Okeke, 2024 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected – ORL), 2026 First-Round Pick (ORL)
Orlando Magic Receive: G Tyler Herro
In fact, the Miami Heat proved the importance of shooting in this year’s playoffs. It got them all the way to the NBA Finals. In a sense. It’s interesting. The Heat were stacked with outstanding three-point shooters. It just happened that none of them were the best players on their team.
Jimmy Butler is a shaky shooter. Bam Adebayo doesn’t shoot threes at all. The Heat found success in surrounding two star players with affordable three-point shooters.
That wasn’t the only notable aspect of their Finals run. The Heat got as far as they did without Tyler Herro. Now, there’s speculation that they could move him this summer.
“We missed [Herro],” Heat president of basketball operations Pat Riley said. “People don’t understand just how lethal he is in those moments. He gets better in the biggest of moments. He just does. You’ve seen it time and again from the bubble to here.”
Herro is no stranger to being mentioned in NBA trade rumors since he has failed to necessarily climb to such a status in his career that he’s an elite perimeter talent. If he was on the level of a Jaylen Brown, we would not be considering him a trade candidate.

The Heat is likely going to need to get creative with roster construction to maximize their title contention window with Jimmy Butler. Doing so may require moving Herro, even if they don’t want to make such a deal.
Is this the right return?
