Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, forward John Collins, center Clint Capela, and forward De’Andre Hunter continue to be mentioned by team personnel as viable trade candidates, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
“The Hawks continued to be described as one of the more active teams in trade dialogue around the NBA,” Fischer wrote. “Hunter, John Collins and All-Star guard Dejounte Murray, in addition to starting center Clint Capela, continue to be mentioned by team personnel as viable trade candidates, with Hunter appearing to be involved in most of the Hawks’ possibilities entering draft night.”
“There remains the chance, sources said, that Dallas could send the No. 10 pick to Atlanta for that No. 15 selection depending on which players are available,” Hawks explained. “The Mavericks, though, could defy expectations and stay at No. 10 if Villanova product Cam Whitmore or UCF forward Taylor Hendricks slips to that selection.”
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Atlanta Hawks, Dejounte Murray, & Dallas Mavericks Updates
Atlanta has told opposing teams it’s open to conversations about all of its roster outside of All-Star point guard Trae Young, according to Fischer. Young signed a five-year, $215.2 million rookie maximum extension with the Hawks in August 2021.
The Hawks won 41 games this past season. They lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in six games. Former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder was hired in February. The Hawks went 13-15 under Snyder.
“The Hawks have told opposing teams Atlanta is open to conversations about all of its roster outside of Trae Young, league sources told Yahoo Sports,” Fischer wrote.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Atlanta Hawks, Dejounte Murray, & Dallas Mavericks Updates
“That does not mean the Hawks are actively shopping Dejounte Murray, whom the franchise sent three first-round picks to acquire from San Antonio last offseason, because Murray, in that respect, would cost quite a lot for Atlanta to part with,” Fischer explained. “The Hawks are valuing their players in some form of tier structure, sources said, where Murray stands in his own realm after Young.”
