The Charlotte Hornets have the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and the franchise might select Scoot Henderson instead of Brandon Miller, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
Henderson told reporters on June 21 that the Hornets, who have LaMelo Ball, should draft him.
“My gut feeling is take me,” Henderson said. “Just based off the player I am, based on what I’m going to bring every time I step on the floor. They appreciated me coming in and putting that work in. I’m just blessed to be here and maximize my talent at the highest level in the NBA and I’m going to do that wherever I land.”

Henderson has already met with Hornets governor Michael Jordan. Even though Jordan has agreed to sell his majority stake to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall for an approximate $3 billion valuation, the Chicago Bulls legend will keep a minority stake and maintain a presence with the franchise.
Jordan will continue to oversee basketball operations through the 2023 draft and the start of free agency. He is arguably the greatest player in NBA history.
MJ won six championships, six Finals MVPs, five regular-season MVPs and 10 scoring titles with the Bulls in the ’90s. Chicago three-peated twice and went 6-0 in the Finals during the Jordan era.

The Hornets won only 27 games this past season. They have to get this second overall draft pick correct and surround Ball with more talent.
Ball, the younger brother of Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball, is the current franchise player in Charlotte. He averaged 23.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 8.4 assists this past season in 36 games while shooting 41.1% from the field, 37.6% from beyond the arc and 83.6% from the free-throw line.
