Montrezl Harrell has declined his 2023-24 player option with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT.
Harrell becomes an unrestricted free agent on June 30.
Harrell averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds for the Sixers this past season in 57 games. The former Sixth Man of the Year shot 59.8% from the field and 69.3% from the free-throw line.
The 29-year-old Harrell only played seven minutes in the 2023 playoffs against the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics. The Sixers lost to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in seven games despite having a 3-2 lead in the series.
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Montrezl Harrell & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
Philadelphia fired Doc Rivers as head coach and hired former Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse, who guided the Raptors to the 2019 championship over the Golden State Warriors in six games. It will be fascinating to see if Nurse and his staff want Harrell to come back next season.
Harrell has career averages of 12.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists with the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets and Sixers. Philadelphia is focused on re-signing James Harden, who is expected to decline his 2023-24 player option to become an unrestricted free agent on June 30, so Harrell is expected to meet with other teams.

One team Harrell won’t play for is the Lakers. Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports reported in November 2022 that Harrell has pretty much burned his bridge in Los Angeles with the Lakers.
“Oh, he has pretty much burned his bridge in Los Angeles,” an NBA exec told Deveney about Harrell. “I think a lot of his annoyance with that whole situation was aimed at Frank (Vogel), but he did not make any friends in the organization with the stuff he said after he left. Before he left, even.”
