NBA insider Matt Moore believes the Philadelphia 76ers will trade small forward Tobias Harris this offseason.

Harris signed a massive five-year, $180 million contract with the Sixers in July 2019. The swingman averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists this past season while shooting 50.1% from the field, 38.9% from beyond the arc and 87.6% from the free-throw line.

The Sixers lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals in seven games. Doc Rivers was fired as head coach and replaced by former Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Tobias Harris & Philadelphia 76ers Updates

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed that the Los Angeles Clippers trade Eric Gordon, Marcus Morris Sr. and a 2023 second-round pick to the Sixers for Harris, who played for Los Angeles before.

“Much of what Philly decides to do this offseason will revolve around James Harden’s free agency,” Swartz wrote. “If Harden signs with the Houston Rockets or anywhere else, the Sixers may have to add some backcourt help via trade. Splitting Harris up into multiple players and a draft pick would help cover up a potential loss of Harden. Gordon put up 12.4 points on 37.1 percent shooting from three, Morris chipped in 11.2 points while hitting 36.4 percent of his outside shots and Philly acquires a second-rounder in this draft.”

“The Clippers get the best overall player in the deal in Harris, who played the best basketball of his career in Los Angeles from 2017-2019,” Swartz explained.

The 30-year-old Harris played 87 games for the Clippers. He put up 20.3 points per game and was beloved by LAC fans. Harris has career averages of 16.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, Clippers and Sixers.

The Clippers lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. Kawhi Leonard only played in Games 1 and 2, while Paul George missed the whole series. Leonard suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee and George had a knee injury from earlier in the season.
