All NBA conversations about the Dallas Mavericks begin with Luka Doncic. No, wait – they begin with Kyrie Irving. 

After all, Doncic is a Maverick – for now. There is speculation around the league that he’ll start to get eyes for opposing teams if the Mavericks’ summer goes poorly. Meanwhile, a good summer starts with Irving. 

He’s a free agent. The Mavericks traded Dorian Finney-Smith and an unprotected first-round pick to acquire him at this year’s trade deadline.

Losing him without receiving anything in return would be a disaster. 

Let’s assume the Mavericks avoid that fate. Next, they’ll need to surround Doncic and Irving with play finishers.

An elite movement shooter would be a sensible addition to this roster.
