Bradley Beal chose to get traded to the Phoenix Suns over the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Suns sent Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, four second-round picks and multiple-pick swaps to the Wizards to acquire Beal, who waived his no-trade clause for Phoenix.
“Ultimately, Beal picked the Suns over multiple other trade scenarios, including Miami, Milwaukee and Sacramento, sources said,” Charania wrote. “The Wizards entered serious negotiations with the Suns and Heat on Saturday, as The Athletic reported, and that’s when the Bucks re-entered the picture. Milwaukee officials spoke with Beal on Saturday to pitch him on the Bucks, league sources said.”
The Suns now have a lethal Big 3 of Beal, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Deandre Ayton is still on the team, although he could get traded soon.

Beal averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists this past season while shooting 50.6% from the field, 36.5% from beyond the arc and 84.2% from the free-throw line. The Suns now have two of the best guards in the NBA in Beal and Booker.
“Mortgage-lending billionaire Mat Ishbia officially took ownership of the Phoenix Suns in February,” Doug Haller of The Athletic wrote. “Since then Phoenix has traded for Durant, fired coach Monty Williams, hired Frank Vogel and traded for Beal. For some organizations, moves of this magnitude don’t happen over four years. Ishbia has authorized them in just more than four months.
“This is what he promised to do, position the Suns for their first NBA title. It’s aggressive and risky — Durant and Beal both are injury prone — but in five months the Suns have become the NBA’s most interesting team. That started the day Ishbia took over.”
