Sure. As currently constructed, the Mavericks could use a player exactly like Collins.
After all, Christian Wood is not expected to return to the team. Collins has a similar skillset. Meanwhile, he’s a more impactful defensive player.
Moreover, the Mavericks are in no position to value the tenth overall pick. This team is strictly in win-now mode. The odds of them drafting a player who’s as ready to contribute as Collins in year one are low.
This may not be Dallas’ first priority. This team needs to retain Kyrie Irving in free agency.
