The Sacramento Kings are pursuing a Bradley Beal trade with the Washington Wizards, according to NBA insiders Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic.

It’s believed that Beal would waive his no-trade clause to get traded to the Kings. However, there does not appear to be a clear pathway between the two sides as of now.

The Wizards’ new front-office leaders and Beal have a mutual understanding that they intend to work together to find a trade that would send the three-time All-Star to a contender if the team elects to reset the organization this offseason under new president Michael Winger.

Beal has a no-trade clause as part of the five-year, $251 million contract he signed with the Wizards last offseason. The 29-year-old, who averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 2022-23, gets to pick the team he gets traded to.

The Kings made the playoffs this year for the first time since 2006. Even though they lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round in seven games, Sacramento has an extremely bright future with De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray and Malik Monk leading the way.

The New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers are interested in acquiring Beal, along with the Kings now. The Florida product has career averages of 22.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists in the NBA.

Beal has spent his entire career with the Wizards, who drafted him with the third overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. The talented shooting guard has never made it past the second round of the playoffs.

If the Wizards trade Beal, they are expected to move him before the 2023 NBA Draft, which is on June 22.
