Warriors Insider Reveals New NBA Trade Intel On Jordan Poole

Golden State Warriors, NBA Rumors

An NBA reporter has made a bold claim about the Golden State Warriors. According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, shooting guard Jordan Poole is not actively being shopped by the Warriors.

Golden State has no plans for a salary dump trade this summer that’s purely about cutting the bill.

“That doesn’t mean Poole is safe,” Slater wrote. “That doesn’t mean anyone besides Stephen Curry is safe. The Warriors intend to explore various avenues to restructure the roster this summer, both small and large in scope.

“That could mean Poole is part of a trade if the return package appeals,” Slater explained. “But Poole is not actively being shopped, there is no edict to cut salary and his side has been given no current indication that his future will be elsewhere. … But the new restrictive CBA penalties above the second tax apron don’t kick in until the following season, when Klay Thompson’s $43 million comes off the books.

“That gives the Warriors time and an extra layer of flexibility as they figure out how best to remain competitive without handcuffing their future. Lacob’s appetite to win only seems like it has been ignited more by Myers’ departure. Sources indicate that there is no plan for a salary dump trade this summer that’s purely about cutting the bill.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jordan Poole & Golden State Warriors Updates

Poole signed a four-year, $128 million extension with the Warriors in October 2022. The extension kicks in next season. The Michigan product averaged a career-high 20.4 points for the Warriors this season while shooting 43.0% from the field, 33.6% from beyond the arc and 87.0% from the free-throw line.

However, Poole wasn’t able to carry over his regular-season success to the postseason. In 13 playoff games versus the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers, Poole averaged 10.3 points while shooting an inefficient 34.1% overall and 25.4% from 3-point range.

The Warriors, who won the championship last season over the Boston Celtics, lost to the Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals in six games, with Poole averaging just 8.3 points in the series.
