Stunning NBA Trade Intel Surfaces About Wizards, Bradley Beal

One NBA insider doesn’t think the Washington Wizards will get a huge haul for shooting guard Bradley Beal if he’s traded this offseason.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN said Beal’s contract is not that attractive around the NBA.

“If Bradley Beal gets traded between now and next Thursday, I think people are going to be very surprised at the price and potentially how low it’s going to be because his contract is not attractive,” Windhorst said on “Get Up.”

Beal signed a five-year, $251 million maximum contract with the Wizards in July 2022. The deal has a no-trade clause, so Beal can only be traded if he agrees to a trade. The three-time All-Star averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season while shooting 50.6% from the field, 36.5% from beyond the arc and 84.2% from the free-throw line.

A Florida product, Beal has career averages of 22.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists. Several contenders could use a scorer of Beal’s caliber. However, they may not want to give up a lot to acquire Beal, who has a long injury history and will make $46 million in 2023-24.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers have been linked to Beal in the past. Beal has never hinted about waiving his no-trade clause, but maybe that will change this offseason since the Wizards have a new president, Michael Winger.

“Beal has a unique contract unlike anybody else’s in the NBA. He has a no-trade clause, which means not only can he decide if he wants to leave the Wizards, but he can decide who and what he is traded for,” Windhorst said. “It makes it extremely hard to find a deal and Michael Winger has said he has not made up his mind yet, but that indecision has led teams to keep a very close eye on the Wizards as they not only have Beal but big free agents Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis.”

It will be interesting to see what the Wizards and Beal do this offseason.
