A lot of questions unfold from this saga. Does Ayton deserve a max contract? If so, why were the Suns hesitant to offer him one? After all, this is their recent number-one pick. 

On the other hand, if Ayton doesn’t deserve a max, it’s due to the limitations in his game.

This is a big man who doesn’t shoot and isn’t especially versatile on defense. Of course, this begs another question…

Why did Phoenix take Ayton with the first overall pick in the draft? These shortcomings were well documented. It was a known fact that Ayton was a traditional big.
