The Detroit Pistons could trade small forward Bojan Bogdanovic to the Dallas Mavericks this offseason, according to one NBA insider.
Jonathan Givony of ESPN is reporting that the Pistons could send Bogdanovic and the 31st overall pick in this year’s draft to the Mavericks for shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and the 10th overall pick.
“Some trade scenarios could be in play for the Pistons with the No. 31 pick as well, for example, packaging Bojan Bogdanovic for Tim Hardaway Jr. and the No. 10 pick, sources tell ESPN,” Givony wrote.
Bogdanovic is one of the top shooters in the NBA. The veteran swingman averaged 21.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists this season for the Pistons while shooting 48.8% from the field, 41.1% from beyond the arc, and 88.4% from the free-throw line.
NBA DRAFT NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons & Dallas Mavericks Updates
Bogdanovic projects to be a good fit next to Mavericks stars Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic since he can space the floor.
In October 2022, Bogdanovic signed a two-year, $39 million extension with the Pistons. However, since Detroit is in rebuild mode, maybe the franchise will be open to moving Bogdanovic this offseason if the right deal becomes available.
This is a big offseason for the Mavericks, who have to keep Doncic happy. Irving becomes an unrestricted free agent and Dallas can offer him the most money. A Big 3 of Doncic, Irving and Bogdanovic could make some serious noise in the Western Conference next season. It will be interesting to see if Mark Cuban and Nico Harrison can make something special happen.

During his end-of-the-season press conference, Doncic told Mavericks reporters that he was “happy” in Dallas, but he also admitted that “something’s got to change.” The 2018-19 Rookie of the Year signed a five-year, $215.2 million designated rookie contract extension with the Mavericks in August 2021.
“Something’s got to change for sure,” Doncic said. “I mean, last year we went to Western Conference finals. We were having fun. I always talk about the chemistry we had. It was great. But something’s got to change for sure.”
