The Philadelphia 76ers are not interested in acquiring Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards, according to Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.

The Washington Wizards’ new front-office leaders and Beal have a mutual understanding that they intend to work together to find a trade that would send the three-time All-Star to a contender if the team elects to reset the organization this offseason.

However, the Sixers won’t be talking to the Wizards about a Beal trade if the Florida product hits the trade market.

“However, sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity insisted that the Sixers will not be pursuing Beal and are not interested in him as a long-term building block,” Neubeck wrote. “The concerns on Philadelphia’s end are all the obvious ones laid out above. Committing $200 million to a player over the next four years under a CBA that is punitive for expensive teams is not a route they’re looking to travel.”

Beal has a no-trade clause as part of the five-year, $251 million contract he signed with the Wizards last offseason. The 29-year-old, who averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 2022-23, gets to pick the team he gets traded to.

James Harden is expected to decline his 2023-24 player option with the Sixers to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Philadelphia is focused on re-signing the former MVP and taking care of Tyrese Maxey, who is eligible to sign a rookie-scale extension this offseason.

“The team still has some major decisions to make in the months to come,” Neubeck wrote. “For example, what will James Harden’s next contract look like? A four-year max is not in the cards, so can the two sides come to an agreement on a structure that works for both parties? Time will tell if Harden is amenable to a 2+1 structure or a two-year deal with a bigger dollar value.

“Also of great importance — what does Tyrese Maxey’s extension look like? The entire Philadelphia brain trust from the front office down to the floor is high on Maxey, and his next contract will take him from a cheap rookie deal to a big-money, produce-or-else contract that factors heavily into future planning.”
