Bruce Brown wants to stay with the Denver Nuggets after winning the 2023 NBA championship.

The Miami product told Mike Singer of the Denver Post that the Nuggets are the perfect team for him.

“I want to stay,” Brown said. “Look at us. Celebrating the Finals, winning the Finals. This is what you come to the NBA for, to win at the highest level. It’s a perfect fit. And money is not everything. The money will come. So I’m not worried about that right now.”

Brown has a player option next season worth $6.8 million. He would become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if he declined that player option. The 26-year-old averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists for the Nuggets in 2022-23 while shooting 48.3% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 75.8% from the free-throw line.

In the 2023 playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, Brown put up 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. The Boston native averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 boards and 1.0 assists in the Finals versus the Heat.

Brown will likely decline his 2023-24 player option since he can make more money on the open market. However, that doesn’t mean the Nuggets won’t re-sign him. By all accounts, Denver values Brown and everything he brings to the table.

Brown has career averages of 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists with the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets and Nuggets. He has improved his game every year he’s been in the NBA.

“We feel amazing, obviously,” Brown said. “Since day one in training camp in San Diego, we knew we could do this. We worked for this. Was it 17 of us, 15 of us? Worked extremely hard. Every practice, every game, we stayed locked in. We stayed together. So I’m just extremely happy for the group.”
