The Phoenix Suns are exploring multiple options as they navigate Chris Paul’s future with the organization, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
“The Phoenix Suns have notified Chris Paul that they intend to find a resolution this offseason that fits the veteran star and the Suns organization, which could include parting ways, league sources tell The Athletic,” Charania wrote.
There are many potential outcomes that could transpire between the Suns and Paul, including a trade, waiving and stretching his contract over multiple years, or waiving and potentially re-resigning him.

Paul’s salary for the 2023-24 season is partially guaranteed unless released. The future Hall of Famer signed a four-year, $120 million contract with Phoenix in August 2021.
The Suns acquired Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder in November 2020. The 12-time All-Star finishes his Phoenix career with averages of 15.1 points and 9.5 assists.
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Chris Paul & Phoenix Suns Updates
The Suns made it to the NBA Finals in 2021, where they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games despite taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. The team then got defeated by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2022 Western Conference Semifinals in seven games and the Denver Nuggets in this year’s conference semifinals in six games.
Paul averaged a career-low 13.9 points this season. He’s 38 years old and new Suns owner Mat Ishbia didn’t want to pay the Wake Forest product. The NBA legend got hurt in Game 2 of the Nuggets series and missed the rest of the series. It appears the Suns want a younger point guard next to All-Star shooting guard Devin Booker and superstar small forward Kevin Durant.

KD’s old teammate, All-NBA point guard Kyrie Irving, becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Suns have also been linked to NBA champion Fred VanVleet, who can become an unrestricted free agent if he declines his 2023-24 player option with the Toronto Raptors.
Paul will likely be linked to the Los Angeles Lakers due to his close relationship with NBA icon LeBron James. It will be very interesting to see where Paul is playing next season.
One of the best point guards of all time, Paul has career averages of 17.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists.
