Over the last few weeks, tons of NBA rumors have been flying around regarding the future of Los Angeles Lakers’ star LeBron James. Now, it appears that the saga is taking another turn. Kyrie Irving appears to be recruiting James to the Dallas Mavericks in what would be a shocking turn of events.
That report comes from NBA insider Shams Charania. It would be a massive about-face from what most NBA reporters and fans thought could happen.
Most around the NBA circle had expected that the Los Angeles Lakers could try to acquire or sign Kyrie Irving this offseason. No one had seriously talked about James joining forces with Irving in Dallas. However, the move would make a ton of sense for all parties involved.

For the Mavericks, it would be a no-brainer to go out and trade for James if indeed he has interest in heading to Dallas. On the other side, the Lakers are probably getting the idea that LeBron does not want to stick around. Moving on from him and adding as much value as they possibly can would be a wise move.
Taking a look at things from James’ perspective, joining the Mavs would have to be a very intriguing possibility. Luka Doncic is one of the best in the game and his friendship with Irving would be a major bonus as well. If LeBron were to head to the Mavericks, he would immediately make them a championship favorite.

This is a lot to digest in such a short period of time. The Lakers and Mavericks will have a lot of negotiating to do if they opt to head this direction. But, only time will tell what LeBron James’ future actually holds.
Expect to continue hearing a ton of rumors swirling around in the coming hours, days, and weeks. The Mavs are clearly looking to swing big this offseason and James appears to be their main target at this point. Whether or not the Lakers have interest in making a deal will be the next question that needs answered.
