NBA Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady told Rachel Nichols on the latest episode of “WHAT’S BURNIN” that the Boston Celtics shouldn’t break up Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

McGrady believes Tatum and Brown will win a championship together in Boston one day.

“You don’t dismantle that,” McGrady said. “I’m sorry. Hell yeah, you keep that. This is what, 25 and 26-year-olds? Why would you get rid of that? I don’t understand why would you get rid of two guys that have played for an NBA Championship, went to four Eastern Conference Finals. At some point, these guys are gonna raise a banner.

“LeBron is on his way out, Steph is getting older, KD and those guys are getting older. These guys are 25 and 26 years old, you are not going to find a better duo than these two.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown & Boston Celtics Updates

The Celtics lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals in seven games. Boston reached the NBA Finals last year, losing to the Golden State Warriors in six games. Some people around the NBA believe Tatum and Brown can’t win a title together, but McGrady — one of the best players of all time — isn’t in that camp.

Boston is 234-132 when Tatum and Brown are in the lineup together during the regular season. The Celtics have never missed the playoffs with their two All-Stars leading the way. Sure, Tatum and Brown haven’t been able to win a championship yet, but they are still very young. Tatum is only 25 and Brown is just 26.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown & Boston Celtics Updates

Brown is eligible for the Designated Veteran Extension this summer, while Tatum is eligible to sign a Designated Veteran Extension next offseason. It’s going to be very interesting to see if the Celtics keep Tatum and Brown together or trade one of them. Pretty much every team in the NBA would love to have one of them.
