Why The Memphis Grizzlies Do The Deal 

If the Grizzlies are going to compete for a title in the next few years, they’ll need Morant. That doesn’t mean that their future won’t be bright without them. 

Once again, this team has the other pieces in place. Jackson Jr. just won Defensive Player of the Year. Bane will be a perfect compliment to any offensive star. 

Following this deal, the Grizzlies would need to find that offensive star – again. That won’t be easy. Still, it will be a little easier with three new first-round picks and a swap at their disposal. 

Frankly, Memphis probably won’t look to trade Morant this summer. Still, they have questions to ask themselves. If the Grizzlies feel that they’re developing an untenable culture around Morant,. they may be forced to reset. 

In other words, this depends on how worried they are about him.
