In today’s NBA, positions matter less than skill sets. This changes how we view roster construction entirely.
For example, can a team “need a point guard?” Aren’t we simply saying that they need playmaking? Why would it matter if the playmaking came from a different position?
Plenty of fans have suggested that the Boston Celtics need a point guard. In all reality, they need playmaking.
If it came from a different position, that wouldn’t be a problem in any sense. The Celtics could target a playmaking forward.
For example, look at the Golden State Warriors. Their primary playmaker has been a forward for years. Draymond Green is responsible for setting his teammates up more than even Steph Curry.
Could he be a Celtic next season?
