Miami Heat shooting guard Tyler Herro could play in Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Herro broke his right hand in Game 1 of the Heat’s first-round series versus the Milwaukee Bucks and underwent surgery.

“I’m told that Game 2 on Sunday looms as a possibility for Tyler Herro,” Woj said. “He’ll have a couple more days here to test out that fractured right hand that has now healed. He’s on the court working out. … Sunday, Game 2 is something he will test it out for. But if not Sunday, then Game 3 on Wednesday back in Miami, think barring a setback, there’s confidence Tyler Herro will be ready to return then.”

Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Heat during the regular season while shooting 43.9% from the floor, 37.8% from beyond the arc and 93.4% from the free-throw line. He was third on the team in points per game, trailing Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

“There’s a little soreness in my hand still,” Herro said after the Heat advanced to the NBA Finals. “But it’s all just post-surgery scar tissue and stuff like that I’m trying to work through right now and I would love to come back for the Finals and we’ll see how my hand feels.”

Herro, who played in the 2020 NBA Finals versus the Los Angeles Lakers during his rookie year, had a feeling the Heat would reach the Finals this year after the team beat the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.

“After we won in Milwaukee, I had a feeling we’d be going back to the Finals,” Herro said. “It’s been a hell of a ride so far, just to be on the sideline. I’ve been on every road trip, been a part of everything thus far. Just being here with the team has been awesome, just to see the guys rally around each other. And it’s been good. I’m excited to have the opportunity to possibly play again this season.”
