Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green went off on the Boston Celtics and their fans after the Miami Heat won Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals in blowout fashion, preventing an NBA Finals appearance.

Green said he was happy to see Celtics fans “suffer.”

“Boston Celtics fans will make excuses and I ain’t hearing none of that sh*t,” Green said on his podcast. “Because y’all rude and I’m happy y’all lost. Not happy JT lost, but Boston Celtics fans, especially those of you that are in that arena, I’m happy y’all lost because like stop being who you are. I’ve heard that before, but you know what I mean. Like stop being the way that y’all are. Like at some point you just can’t be that way.”

Boston fans have a reputation for saying racist things to Black players. Green and the Warriors faced the Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals and won the series in six games. Green is always booed whenever he plays at the TD Garden.

The Celtics won three games in a row against the Heat after falling down 3-0 in the series. However, Miami torched Boston in Game 7, winning by a final score of 103-84, and Green didn’t hold back on the Celtics.

“The Boston Celtics are who we thought they were,” Green said. “They got to the moment and they did not look like they were ready for the moment. All of a sudden, all the shots were short again. All of a sudden, they looked like they couldn’t play basketball with their left hand again. All of a sudden, they looked like exactly who we thought they were.

“So let’s think about this. Like if you think back through the series, in every game that mattered — and now when I say matter, I mean matter for them, like where the pressure was on them, they were supposed to win — they actually lost. And quite frankly, they won on like a garbage buzzer-beater at the last second. Giving Derrick White credit. Like he made the play. That’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes. But like they almost — they gave that game away.”

Green will likely be booed loudly when he faces the Celtics at the TD Garden next season given his podcast comments.
