One NBA general manager has labeled Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent as a potential target for the Los Angeles Lakers this summer.

A Western Conference general manager told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that Vincent is the kind of player the Lakers need.

“Gabe Vincent from Miami, he is a free agent and could be had at a decent number,” the GM said. “It is hard to figure where he ranks as a shooter, and the Heat might go out of their way to keep him, but he’s the kind of fit they need there in LA.”

Vincent, who is an undrafted player, becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason. He averaged 9.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for the Heat during the regular season while shooting 40.2% from the field, 33.4% from beyond the arc, and 87.2% from the free-throw line.

Lakers starting point guard D’Angelo Russell becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer like Vincent. It’s unknown if Los Angeles wants to re-sign the All-Star, who struggled in the Western Conference Finals versus the Denver Nuggets.

Russell averaged only 6.3 points and 3.5 assists against the Nuggets while shooting 32.3% from the field and 13.3% from beyond the arc. Denver swept Los Angeles to advance to the NBA Finals.

LeBron James is not a fan of Russell, according to Deveney. If LeBron doesn’t retire this summer, it’s possible the Lakers don’t re-sign D’Lo.

“I hate to say one playoff series can change a franchise’s whole outlook on a guy because that just does not happen, but it is happening with some of the people in that building, maybe most significantly, with LeBron,” one Western Conference executive told Deveney. “Is this a guy they want to invest in? Does LeBron want him back — there is talk that he is not Russell’s biggest fan.”

Vincent, who turns 27 in June, has career averages of 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
