Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green thinks it would be great if the Boston Celtics beat the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals since the Celtics would become the first team in NBA history to win a playoff series after trailing 3-0.

Green is tired of people talking about the Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals. The All-Star believes the Celtics coming back versus the Heat will make individuals forget about the Dubs’ collapse.

“We would love to see it, wouldn’t we? Maybe I won’t have to hear about 3–1 anymore if this team comes back from 3–0,” Green said on his podcast. “Like you could throw the 3–1 in the dirt. Like forget about it. I’m sick of it. And like talk about 3–0. It’d be a much better story.”

The Warriors are the only team in NBA history to lose a Finals series after taking a 3-1 lead. Behind LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, the Cavaliers won Games 5, 6, and 7 of the 2016 Finals after falling down 3-1.

Green and the Dubs won an NBA record 73 games in 2015-16, but they couldn’t finish the job and win the whole thing.

The Heat took a commanding 3-0 lead over the Celtics in this year’s Eastern Conference Finals by winning the first three games. It looked like Miami was well on its way to making the NBA Finals. However, Boston won Games 4, 5, and 6, showing great fight and mental toughness.

The Warriors beat the Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals in six games. Stephen Curry won his first Finals MVP and Green, Curry, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala captured their fourth championship. It’s amusing to see Green rooting for the Celtics since he was going up against them last year on the NBA’s biggest stage.

However, the former Defensive Player of the Year wants people to quit bringing up the Warriors’ choke job in the 2016 Finals and the easiest way for that to happen is for the Celtics to win the Eastern Conference Finals.
