It’s worth noting that Boston is still in the NBA Playoffs. The results of their series with the Miami Heat may dictate their interest here. 

On the other hand, they may not. It’s possible that Brown will request a trade this summer regardless. For that matter, it’s possible that Trae Young will as well. 

Let’s say he doesn’t. The Hawks could be motivated to move Young anyway. He’s seemingly caused some issues within this organization. Here, the Hawks get a fresh start. With Brown on the wings, they can go about establishing a defensive identity.

Meanwhile, the Celtics already have one. This team has the roster construction necessary to offset Young’s defensive limitations. They also need a point guard.

This is a swap that could make sense for both sides. Provided, of course, that Brown wants to go home.
