It had to have been tough for Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson to watch his team get swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. While the NBA legend isn’t officially connected to the franchise anymore, he will forever bleed purple and gold.

However, he can at least come away from watching those games feeling good about the team. In between their losses, he found some time to offer up his opinion on his team’s biggest rival, the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics are on the cusp of being swept in the Eastern Conference Finals at the hands of the Miami Heat. They have put together some truly embarrassing performances the entire postseason, but things have reached a fever pitch.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Magic Johnson, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown & Boston Celtics Updates

Johnson took to Twitter to call out the Celtics for the effort they put forth in Game 3. Down 2-0 and with their backs up against the wall, Johnson witnessed something he never thought he would see; Boston quit.

“In my 44 years of being associated with the NBA I never thought I’d see a Boston Celtics team, a franchise with 17 Championships, quit. I know Celtics fans all over the world must be disgusted and devastated. The Miami Heat blew them out 128-102 in Game 3.”

Head coach Joe Mazzulla has come under fire throughout the postseason and rightfully so. He has failed to have his team ready to play on multiple occasions, which falls on him and the staff. But, at some point, it does come down to the players executing on the court.

While the game plan may not be the strongest, as Erik Spoelstra has coached circles around Mazzulla, the players aren’t holding up their end of the bargain either. Johnson believes that it is time for some major changes this offseason in Boston.

“It’s time for the Boston Celtics to make major changes.”

There are a lot of people who believe that Mazzulla will be one-and-done as the team’s head coach. But, there could also be some roster moves on the horizon to shake up a core that could have run its course.

All eyes will be on Jaylen Brown, who was in trade rumors last offseason when Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. If he has no intention of signing a long-term deal to remain in Boston, he could bring back a package strong enough to help reshape the roster.
