In the modern NBA, 3-and-D wings are highly coveted. They aren’t necessarily superstars.
Of course, 3-and-D wings who can create their own shot can be. Even still, non-stars with those two fundamental skills are extremely valuable.
They are skeleton keys. The league’s best 3-and-D wings are 30 team starters. They’ll compliment any player in the NBA, with no exceptions.
For example, take OG Anunoby of the Toronto Raptors. He’s not a superstar shot creator.
Still, it’s well-known in NBA circles that the Raptors would not easily part with him.
