The Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, and Philadelphia 76ers will interview former Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse for their head-coaching vacancies, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Nurse was let go by the Raptors in April. He helped the franchise win its only championship in 2019 over the Golden State Warriors in six games. Toronto lost to the Chicago Bulls in the 9-10 play-in game this season and failed to make the playoffs.
“One major name on the carousel is Nick Nurse, who was let go by the Raptors after five seasons that included Toronto’s first NBA title,” Charania wrote. “He is expected to begin his formal process with meetings with Milwaukee, Phoenix, and Philadelphia and is expected to be in high demand and could possibly have his job to choose from, essentially his own selection process.”
Nurse went 227-163 with the Raptors in the regular season and 25-16 in the playoffs. He won the 2019-20 Coach of the Year Award and is considered one of the brightest offensive minds in the NBA.
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Nick Nurse, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
The Bucks fired Mike Budenholzer, the Suns parted ways with Monty Williams and the Sixers moved on from Doc Rivers. Milwaukee lost in the first round of the playoffs, while Phoenix and Philadelphia got bounced in the second round.
If Nurse picks between the Suns, Bucks, and Sixers, he will coach a superstar. Phoenix has two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant and All-Star shooting guard Devin Booker, Milwaukee has two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Stars Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday, and Philadelphia has reigning MVP Joel Embiid and former MVP James Harden.

However, it’s worth mentioning that Harden has been rumored to leave the Sixers for the Houston Rockets this summer.
Nurse coached Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry on the Raptors, so he knows how to work with stars. It will be fascinating to see where the Iowa native lands after a strong five-year run in Toronto.
