The Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals behind a stellar performance from NBA star Jamal Murray. The Kentucky product scored 37 points in 42 minutes while shooting 11-of-24 from the field and 6-of-14 from beyond the arc.
Murray put up 23 points in the fourth quarter to help the Nuggets win Game 2 by a final score of 108-103. Denver won Game 1 as well, but the national media kept talking about how the Lakers played well near the end of the first game.
Many pundits are still sleeping on the Nuggets and Murray said after Game 2 that he and his teammates are using it as “fuel.”
“You try not to look into it,” Murray said. “People are going to talk. People are going to have their assumptions and what they should do and the adjustments they should make. If they see something working, they’re going to adjust and we’re going to adjust as well. In the series, we are going to go back and forth. We are going to make adjustments the next game. We are going to watch film and change stuff up. They’re going to do the same.

“Yeah, the outside noise is the outside noise. We’re the Denver Nuggets. We’re used to that. Even when we win, they talk about the other team. We beat the Clippers in the bubble, they talk about the other team. Same old, same old. It fuels us a little more and will be sweeter when we win the chip.”
The Nuggets are two wins away from reaching the NBA Finals. Murray is averaging 27.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists in the 2023 playoffs while shooting 47.1% overall and 40.8% from 3-point land.
