The New York Knicks could make a major trade this NBA offseason after reaching the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the first time since 2013.

According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, the Knicks have been linked to Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns, Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma, and Toronto Raptors swingman OG Anunoby.

“Several NBA sources over the past couple of years have expressed they believe the Knicks will ultimately end up with Karl-Anthony Towns, a CAA client,” Pincus wrote. “Other big names suggested as potential Knicks targets include Bradley Beal, Kyle Kuzma (expected to be a free agent this summer) and OG Anunoby. Generally speaking, the Knicks could be a suitor for the next star who demands a trade.”

The Knicks would likely have to part ways with RJ Barrett and/or Julius Randle to land Towns or Beal, two of the best players in the NBA. Point guard Jalen Brunson is a lock to stay in the Big Apple after having a successful first season with the Knickerbockers. The lefty averaged 24.0 points and 6.2 assists in the regular season and 27.8 points and 5.6 assists in the playoffs.

Beal has a no-trade clause in his contract, so he would have to approve a trade to the Knicks for New York to acquire him. The Florida product put up 23.2 points per game this season for the Wizards while shooting 36.5% from beyond the arc.

Towns has been heavily connected to the Knicks since he’s a CAA client. New York president Leon Rose used to work with CAA, so he has a strong rapport with Towns, who averaged 20.8 points and 8.1 rebounds this season for the Timberwolves.

Kuzma has a player option for next season worth $13 million. If he declines it, the NBA champion would become an unrestricted free agent this summer, meaning the Knicks wouldn’t have to give up any assets to acquire him should Rose and Co. be interested in his services. Kuzma, 27, averaged 21.2 points and 7.2 rebounds this season for Washington.

Anunoby averaged 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 2022-23 for the Raptors. He’s eligible to sign an extension with Toronto in the fall. The London native will make $18.6 million next season and has a player option worth $19.9 million for 2024-25.
