
The Houston Rockets just landed the fourth pick in the NBA Draft. Some of their fans are devastated.
That’s understandable. The big prize in this draft was Victor Wembanyama. Even Scoot Henderson has franchise player potential. Barring a trade-up for Henderson, the Rockets won’t land either.
At the same time, there are worse fates than having the fourth pick in the NBA draft. Amen Thompson may be on the board. He’s an enticing high-ceiling, low-floor gamble.
On the other hand, it feels like the Rockets want to take a step forward next season. Thompson may not be ready to contribute.
If they wanted to, they could also trade the fourth overall pick.
