It looks like the Golden State Warriors’ core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green isn’t going anywhere this NBA offseason.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Curry, Thompson and Green are expected to be back next season for the Warriors, who lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals. It was the first time in the Steve Kerr era that Golden State lost in the playoffs before getting to the NBA Finals.

Kerr joined the Warriors in the summer of 2014, replacing Mark Jackson. Since then, the Dubs have appeared in eight NBA Finals, winning four titles. Curry has won two regular-season MVPs and one Finals MVP under Kerr and the Warriors made NBA history in 2015-16 by winning 73 games in the regular season.

However, they blew a 3-1 series lead to LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 Finals, becoming the first team ever to lose in the Finals after going up 3-1.

Curry is under contract with the Warriors through the 2025-26 season, while Thompson has one year left on his deal. Meanwhile, Green can become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he declines his player option for next season and Logan Murdock of The Ringer is reporting that the Warriors “will be open to negotiating a multiyear deal with Green” this offseason.

The Dubs’ season started off rocky in 2022 after Green punched Jordan Poole in the face. After winning the championship last year over the Boston Celtics in six thrilling games, Golden State went only 44-38 in 2022-23 and won just 11 games on the road. Behind Curry, who scored 50 points in Game 7 of the first round against the Sacramento Kings, the Warriors seemed ready for James and Anthony Davis. However, they were no match for the Lakers, who eliminated the defending champions in six games.

It appears that running it back one more time with the core group will be in the cards for the Warriors.
