With the NBA offseason quickly approaching, the New York Knicks are going to be one of the most intriguing teams to watch in the NBA rumors mill. After making a solid playoff run in what was an overall surprising season, the team could look to swing for the fences to take the next step. Perhaps targeting a trade for a star scorer like Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan would make sense.

DeRozan is expected to be mentioned in quite a few rumors this offseason. The Bulls have struggled mightily to figure things out with their current core, and will likely move either DeRozan or Zach LaVine.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report once again speculated that the Knicks could pull off a deal for DeRozan. He even included what a potential trade package could include.

Here’s what the trade could look like:

Knicks Receive: DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso

Bulls Receive: RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin, and Isaiah Hartenstein

That would be a big-time win for the Knicks. Barrett had major issues being consistent for New York, especially in the playoffs. Neither Toppin or Hartenstein are talents that should force the Knicks to pass on this kind of deal.

During the 2022-23 NBA season with the Bulls, DeRozan ended up averaging 24.5 points per game to go along with 5.1 assists and 4.6 rebounds. He shot 50.4 percent from the floor overall for the second straight season and knocked down 32.4 percent of his three-point attempts.

At 33 years of age, DeRozan is still one of the top scorers in the NBA. Adding him to the court alongside Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle could be the missing piece to make the Knicks legitimate NBA Finals contenders.

Expect to hear a ton of NBA rumors surrounding the Knicks this offseason. DeMar DeRozan may not end up being a target, but he would make a ton of sense. New York needs to get aggressive and it will be interesting to see what they end up doing.
