A lot of NBA people were surprised when the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired Rudy Gobert. Apparently, Karl-Anthony Towns was one of them.
Recently, Towns stated that he wasn’t expecting the Wolves to acquire the former Defensive Player of the Year. Towns didn’t know he’d be moving to the four.
This is interesting. One might assume that a team would keep one of their two franchise players in the loop about what position he’d be playing. As it turns out, one would be wrong.
Meanwhile, Towns struggled at the four. He may not have the lateral quickness to guard the type of wing players that often populate that position in 2023.
With that said, if he’s going to return to the five next season, it’ll likely be on a new team.
Could that team be the San Antonio Spurs?
