They’ll be apprehensive about parting ways with Giddey. That’s fair. The young point guard has flashed star potential at this point in his career. 

At the same time, he’s a little redundant alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. These are two jumbo playmakers with shooting limitations. In time, the Thunder may have to move Giddey. 

Why not do it now? Bringing in an elite 3-and-D wing with shot creation will elevate this team. George is the perfect piece to complement Gilgeous-Alexander.
