Kevin Love has had the chance to play with some incredible talents throughout his career. At the top of the list is LeBron James, who Love partnered up with in Cleveland to help the Cavaliers win their first NBA championship in franchise history.
After getting bought out this season, Love finds himself on the Miami Heat. His new All-Star teammate is Jimmy Butler. Over the years, Butler has proven to be one of the top playoff performers in the league right now. During the NBA bubble, he did whatever was necessary to get his team all the way to the finals.
While speaking at a press conference, Love had incredibly high praise for Butler. The veteran big man even went as far as to say that he impacts a game similar to the way LeBron does.
“It reminds me of another player that I played with for several years, so it’s an amazing thing to watch,” Kevin Love said in an allusion to LeBron James. “He leads us, he sets the tone for us every single night.”

This is a very high bar to set for someone, but an argument can be made for ‘Playoff Jimmy.’ When the lights are at their brightest, he always finds a way to take his game to new heights.
It might not be to the same degree, but Butler is also a do-it-all type of player at the forward position like LeBron. He can facilitate when he needs to and is more than capable of getting a bucket in a big moment. On top of that, he also brings high-level defense on the other side of the floor.

So far this postseason, you could say Butler’s play is LeBron-esq. Through seven games, he is averaging 34.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.6 steals. His top performance came against the Milwaukee Bucks when he erupted for 56 points in a crucial win.
Some might not like that Love compared Butler to LeBron, but there’s no denying that there are some similarities between the two.
