During the first round of the playoffs, Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks was a big topic of conversation in the NBA. Throughout their series with the LA Lakers, he did everything he could to play mind games with the opponent.

It’s rare for a player to go at LeBron James, but that’s exactly what Brooks did. However, things ended up taking a turn for the Grizzlies. As the Lakers took control of the series, Brooks talked less and less until he was avoiding the media completely. He was later fined by the league for doing so.

During an episode of his “The Big” podcast, Shaq gave his thoughts on the Grizzlies veteran. He feels that if Brooks doesn’t have a change of heart, he’ll be out of the league very soon.

“He didn’t play well enough to be acting like that. Now he’s either going to be out the league or he gonna have to check himself before he wreck himself… Who going to sign him? He’s not athletic, he ain’t jumping out the gym, and his jumper ain’t like that.”

There is no denying that Brooks’ play did not back up his antics. Through the six games, he averaged 10.5 points while shooting 31.2 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from beyond the arc.

This was a big year for Brooks, and it did not end the way he may have hoped. Following his poor struggles in the playoffs, he will now enter unrestricted free agents. Reports have surfaced that Memphis has made it clear they won’t be re-signing him.

As Shaq said, if Brooks isn’t willing to make some changes, he might have a hard time landing a new contract. Teams are not going to put up with his style if he is unable to contribute on the court.
