We don’t mean to be harsh. There is talent on this Wizards team. Still, nobody was shocked to see them miss the playoffs – even if they could have made them.
Frankly, this has been the Wizards’ lot in life for some time. They’re always on that fringe. The Wizards might make the playoffs, and they might miss them.
It’s probably time for this team to start over. This summer, the Wizards should at least entertain the notion of moving their best players in exchange for younger ones and draft capital.
The Wizards need to be careful in how they navigate the free agency of their key players that are soon to hit the open market, including Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis. If this team cannot win as constructed, is paying big money to keep it together logical?
